Is College Still Necessary in 2025?

As the workforce continues to grow, and technology continues to hit new heights, the rules of the game have began to change. The introduction of Artificial Intelligence in late 2022 raised a serious question, What career choices are safe from the continuous evolution of technology ? The advice of the past is no longer useful to a graduating student in 2025 because the world is not the same world that it once was 20 years ago. I graduated high school in  2024 and  from the moment I entered 6th grade up until my last high school class I always received the same advice, To get good grades in high school so that I can obtain a good scholarship and go to college for a reduced price so that one day I can be a successful member of the workforce. But when I asked around and talked to different friends who were also graduating It caused me to do my own research, What I found out was that careers choices today are drastically different then what they were 10 or even 20 years ago. There are people making Millions of dollars who did not finish high school and there are College graduates with degrees who are applying to 100+ jobs a day and finding no luck. The true path to a successful future is to follow something that interests you but can also keep you financially stable, whether that may be an accountant who makes $80,000 yearly or a guy who sells shirts online and brings in millions of dollars to his business but finds no joy in it. The importance of College remains to the individual deciding on a career path that they find value in.

Student loans & Work Experience,

Different factors also play a big role on the decision of a higher education. I know many friends who chose to not attend a College as they could not afford to pay for the tuition, living cost and even the food situation on Campus. While many other friends chose to start a Blue-Collar job and avoid a large student loan at a young age. Since 1995 the federal student loan debt has increased more then sevenfold states the Congressional Budget Office, to put this in laymen terms, what used to take 10 years to repay now takes 20-30 years to repay. This factor alone would make most reconsider the idea of attending a 4 year college and when factoring in that most graduates take at the least 6 months to land a job in their chosen field, It begins to look like Blue collar is the better career choice. But the truth is that While choosing a Blue-Collar job may be stable in the beginning stages of life, it often times comes back to haunt many who hold the job. Blue-collar jobs require greater physical demand and contain a higher risk while people who hold white collar jobs can hold more mentally demanding jobs with longer hours and higher levels of responsibility, But it remains that Blue collar jobs have little to no room for improvement while White collar jobs hold more opportunities and contain more of a stable work environment.

To put it simply, I believe that the correct path differs from person to person but when given an option, It will remain better to obtain a higher education as it allows for a stable foundation when going through the stages of life. Scholarships and different programs have helped me enter College so that I can build a stable foundation for myself If my original plan doesn't work out.

Entry #10. 8 Hours a night.

Bedtime: NOT LATE ENOUGH! Image Source      Growing up every kid has one enemy that ends up being their best friend in the future: sleep. Sleep is something that every adults overlooks as a kid, part of being a kid is hating bed time, and as a kid I made it my personal mission to find a way to stay up somehow after my parents made me go to bed. And while i was successful at staying up at night, I was failing the ability to wake up in time for school. From a young age this habit slowly carried into my teenage years and has slowly crept into my adult years as well causing me to lookback on past experiences and understand the importance of building good habits from a young age. As I get older I learn the benefits of adequate sleep as a child and I can't help but wonder what would be different about me If I just got a little more sleep while I was developing. Any successful person knows that one of the most important if not the most important activity is sleep, sleep i...

Entry #7. More Than a Symbol

What it was & What it is   Image Source      Hashtags are one of the most popular concurrent social media terms to date, The evolution of the Hashtag or pound sign depending on the name you grew up hearing. Originally the hashtag carried many uses, Some say that the hashtag closely resemble a set of stripes on a soldiers sleeve and others know it for the use of the symbol before a number to give that number a "tag", For example (" Item #5 on the list"). But the Hashtag began to gain traction in the early 2010s, and took social media by storm. Once a simple symbol, it was transformed into a highway for people to find topics of interest through the use of  popular social media sites. Twitter was the first platform to adopt the symbol and quickly integrate it into its day to day use, turning the idea into a viable marketing tactic. Popular sites like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and even YouTube shortly took after Twitter by beginning to introduce ...
