Growing up every kid has one enemy that ends up being their best friend in the future: sleep. Sleep is something that every adults overlooks as a kid, part of being a kid is hating bed time, and as a kid I made it my personal mission to find a way to stay up somehow after my parents made me go to bed. And while i was successful at staying up at night, I was failing the ability to wake up in time for school. From a young age this habit slowly carried into my teenage years and has slowly crept into my adult years as well causing me to lookback on past experiences and understand the importance of building good habits from a young age. As I get older I learn the benefits of adequate sleep as a child and I can't help but wonder what would be different about me If I just got a little more sleep while I was developing. Any successful person knows that one of the most important if not the most important activity is sleep, sleep is how the human body resets and recharges. Without proper sleep most people go crazy.
Importance of Rest
Its no secret that Sleeping is an everyday activity for everyone, but the benefits of a good night's rest are often unknown and overlooked. The eight hours that are recommended are responsible for Memory, Attention span, Recovery, Energy levels and even strengthening the immune system as stated by the CDC. Most people sacrifice sleep at the first expense of any given factor and over 25% of adults average 6 hours a night or less. This is directly linked to why so many people struggle with getting out of bed in the morning, a poor sleep schedule effects sleep quality overall so even on the days that I found myself hitting 8 hours a night I was still waking up tired, groggy and struggling to leave my bed in the morning. Poor sleep can have an affect on day-to-day responsibilities including work, school and different responsibilities that can in turn add to the list of negative outcomes of a poor sleep schedule.
