Entry #10. 8 Hours a night.

Bedtime: NOT LATE ENOUGH! Image Source      Growing up every kid has one enemy that ends up being their best friend in the future: sleep. Sleep is something that every adults overlooks as a kid, part of being a kid is hating bed time, and as a kid I made it my personal mission to find a way to stay up somehow after my parents made me go to bed. And while i was successful at staying up at night, I was failing the ability to wake up in time for school. From a young age this habit slowly carried into my teenage years and has slowly crept into my adult years as well causing me to lookback on past experiences and understand the importance of building good habits from a young age. As I get older I learn the benefits of adequate sleep as a child and I can't help but wonder what would be different about me If I just got a little more sleep while I was developing. Any successful person knows that one of the most important if not the most important activity is sleep, sleep i...

Entry #9. My Perspective on Media

Image source Intentions in Media As scrolling through social media and checking out different headlines has become the new norm for my daily routine I find that every post online  whether its on the News app or its a story from my favorite clothing line, every post has 1 common factor.  They all want to be clicked, watched or read. While the idea that social media feeds off attention, clicks and views is not new to me, As i got older I began to understand that every advertisement and every post had different purposes. It wasn't long before I understood that most online media is posted for some kind of influence/gain. Advertisements use science to play on our dopamine receptors, News headlines are supposed to freak you out so you click on them. Almost everything on the internet is designed and posted for some kind of influence on the user. And while this has been the case for many years now, The recent advancements in media has aided and continued the expansion of the ne...

Entry #8. Is College Even Worth it?

Elementary-University. Image Source Since I was in 5th grade the Idea of getting an education was drilled into my head by my parents and older sister who pursued early College credits throughout her years in high school. While this mentality helped me succeed through grade school I never fully understood what the importance of College was until I entered Highschool. I flew through my Elementary and Junior High years as an honor roll student who never gave much effort to school, But it wasn't until high school that I started to realize that after High School I am free to do what I want with life. This raised the Million dollar question of what my future career choice would be and while I was never fully sure, I knew I wanted to be successful in any field I chose. This question is the foundation to the rest of my life, My future career decides how I get to live my life and with the way the world is today, I understand that it as it is made to reward those who work harder than the r...

Entry #7. More Than a Symbol

What it was & What it is   Image Source      Hashtags are one of the most popular concurrent social media terms to date, The evolution of the Hashtag or pound sign depending on the name you grew up hearing. Originally the hashtag carried many uses, Some say that the hashtag closely resemble a set of stripes on a soldiers sleeve and others know it for the use of the symbol before a number to give that number a "tag", For example (" Item #5 on the list"). But the Hashtag began to gain traction in the early 2010s, and took social media by storm. Once a simple symbol, it was transformed into a highway for people to find topics of interest through the use of  popular social media sites. Twitter was the first platform to adopt the symbol and quickly integrate it into its day to day use, turning the idea into a viable marketing tactic. Popular sites like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and even YouTube shortly took after Twitter by beginning to introduce ...

Entry #6. Sonder

What is Sonder? Image source      My first time hearing the word Sonder was when one of my closest friends had introduced me to a popular RNB artist that goes by the name Brent Faiyaz. An artist who was born in Maryland and focused on a more melodic tone in his music with meaningful rhymes and phrases throughout his lyrics. Brent was influenced by the likes of Lauryn Hill, Lil Wayne and even Madonna. Shortly after getting into his music I had found a separate band that Brent played in that goes by the Name Sonder. This would go on to be my favorite band and I continued to listen to Sonder for about 2 years before I truly understood the definition of the word.  Examples for perspective Image Source One day while I was sitting in class I got the random urge to google the definition and finally get to the bottom of what this mysterious word means. After reading the definition I did not think much of it and went along with my day, I finished class got in my car and got o...

Entry #5. Education In Arizona

Image Source Is College Still Necessary in 2025? As the workforce continues to grow, and technology continues to hit new heights, the rules of the game have began to change. The introduction of Artificial Intelligence in late 2022 raised a serious question, What career choices are safe from the continuous evolution of technology ? The advice of the past is no longer useful to a graduating student in 2025 because the world is not the same world that it once was 20 years ago. I graduated high school in  2024 and  from the moment I entered 6th grade up until my last high school class I always received the same advice, To get good grades in high school so that I can obtain a good scholarship and go to college for a reduced price so that one day I can be a successful member of the workforce. But when I asked around and talked to different friends who were also graduating It caused me to do my own research, What I found out was that careers choices today are drastically ...

Entry #4. The Importance of Optimal Hydration

It's often overlooked ! Image Source     My entire life I've lived in hot desert like environments, so sweating and being dehydrated is nothing new to me, and often times when I would walk home from school I would feel dehydrated as I sweat in the sun. But as I grew older and developed a love for physical health and overall well being I began to understand the importance of staying hydrated. Growing up I drank a variety of beverages from Capri-sun to different sodas and juices, but when I began to understand the effects different sugars and carbohydrates hold on your face I began to stray away from any drink that wasn't water. The hardest beverage to stray away from for me was Dark sodas such as Coke, Pepsi, Root Beer, Dr. Pepper or any drink with large amounts of refined sugars and high fructose corn syrup. In the beginning I would substitute these drinks with their Diet counter parts but I began to understand that even diet sodas contain artificial sweeteners and diff...
